Although Jonathan James grew up in Keller, Texas—a suburban town between Fort Worth and Denton—his heart has always belonged to the land. From a young age, weekends and holidays were spent working cattle, fixing fences, and preparing for hunting season on his grandparents’ ranches in East and West Texas. These early experiences ignited a lifelong love for the outdoors and a deep appreciation for land stewardship.
Jonathan earned a golf scholarship to Kansas State University, where he majored in Marketing. While he appreciated the degree, it was the time spent in the fields and woods throughout Kansas that shaped his future. These years cemented his love for wildlife and gave him hands-on education in land use and conservation.
Following college and a stint chasing his PGA Tour dreams, Jonathan spent over a decade working in the oil and gas industry across Texas and Oklahoma. This time gave him unique insight into the landowner’s side of mineral rights, easements, and well site operations—knowledge that proves invaluable in real estate and land management today. What started as work in the oil fields soon turned into a full-blown passion for the state’s rugged terrain, rich hunting traditions, and exceptional whitetail genetics.
When a Midwest outfitting opportunity presented itself, Jonathan seized the opportunity to further his education and return full-time to what he loves most—hunting, land development, and helping others do the same. As an outfitter in southwest Iowa and northwest Missouri, and with years of experience in Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma, he helped hunters and landowners bring their dream properties and once-in-a-lifetime hunts to life.
Today, Jonathan, his wife Melissa, and their five children spend most of their time on the family ranch in southern Oklahoma. There, he continues to invest in habitat management, herd quality, and meaningful time afield with family. Jonathan considers southern Oklahoma the best-kept secret in the country for pursuing trophy free-range whitetails—especially with a bow in hand. Some of his most treasured moments are watching his children fall in love with the Oklahoma outdoors and getting to create lifelong memories alongside them.
With deep roots in the land and a fierce love for Oklahoma’s wild places, Jonathan is committed to helping others find their perfect piece of ground—whether it’s to chase monster whitetails, build a legacy property, or simply enjoy the unmatched peace that only Oklahoma soil can offer.
